Find out how these clear braces can fix crooked smiles no matter how old you are.

Are you living with a gap in your front teeth? Do you hate that your smile is just a little misaligned? If so, then our San Diego, CA, dentistsInvisalign, Dr. Daniel Stevens, Dr. Christina Tsang, and Dr. Vahid Tabibzadeh, have a simple and nearly invisible solution that will fix these minor issues quickly and effectively.

What is Invisalign?

When you think of braces, you may think about the type of braces that require stainless steel brackets and wires to be bonded to the front of your teeth, however, Invisalign offers a completely different approach. No metal, no brackets, no wires—just clear, custom-made aligners, that resemble transparent mouth guards. These removable aligners fit against the teeth to help guide them gradually into the right position over time.

How does Invisalign work?

In order for aligners to work as effectively as they do, our San Diego dentist will need to map out a treatment plan to determine which teeth will need to move during the treatment as well as exactly how much they will need to move in order to get the results that you want. From there, we will take measurements of your teeth and send this information to an Invisalign-approved lab.

The lab will then create your very own set of aligners. The number of aligners you’ll need to wear will depend on the severity of the dental issues that you are looking to treat with Invisalign. Minor alignment issues will require fewer aligners than more serious dental issues will.

Each aligner is worn for 1-2 weeks at a time for about 20-22 hours/day. Aligners should only be removed prior to eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing. After all, the more often you wear your aligners, the faster you’ll see results!

Who is a good candidate for Invisalign?

Invisalign is geared toward adults and older teens that are looking for a subtle and more discreet way to straighten their smiles without resorting to traditional braces. Invisalign is a great option for those patients looking to fix,

  • Crowding
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Overbites
  • Underbites
  • Crossbites
  • Open bites

It is important to note here that Invisalign may not able to handle more complex tooth and jaw movements. Additionally, this clear orthodontic system is not ideal for children and young teens because their teeth are still growing.

InvisalignAre you interested in straightening your teeth but aren't sure if you're ready to commit to wearing metal braces for a few years? Invisalign just may change your mind about improving your smile. San Diego, CA, dentists Dr. Daniel Stevens, Dr. Christina Tsang, and Dr. Vahid Tabibzadeh help their patients make over their smiles with Invisalign and other cosmetic dentistry treatments and procedures.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a wire-free orthodontic system that straightens your teeth using removable aligner trays. The trays are made of clear, comfortable plastic, which makes them practically invisible. Your San Diego dentist designs your trays using a 3-D image of your mouth produced with innovative CAD-CAM technology. Invisalign trays improve the position of your teeth by exerting constant pressure that gradually realigns them. You'll wear each set in the series for two weeks, then swap them for the next set in the series.

What advantages does the Invisalign system offer?

Invisalign offers a few benefits that traditional metal or ceramic braces don't, such as:

  • Improved Appearance: You'll never feel self-conscious about your smile when you wear Invisalign aligners. The trays don't draw attention to your teeth and offer a more subtle straightening option.
  • Versatility: Although Invisalign aligner trays are most effective if you wear them for 20 to 22 hours per day, you can take them out occasionally without affecting the course of your treatment. Whether you've planned a special night on the town or are participating in your favorite sport, it's not a problem to remove your trays for a few hours.
  • No Food Restrictions: People who wear traditional braces may have to avoid popcorn, gum, gummy treats, raw carrots, and other foods while they straighten their teeth, but you don't have to worry about food restrictions if you choose Invisalign. You'll take your trays out before meals and can eat anything you want. Although you can drink water when you wear your aligners, it's best to take them out before drinking other beverages to avoid stains.
  • No Change to Your Oral Hygiene Regimen: Your trays are also removed before brushing and flossing and don't require any changes to your usual routine.

You wish you had a straight, well-aligned smile, but you never were able to undergo orthodontic treatment as a child. The American invisalignAssociation of Orthodontists says children ages 11 to 14 typically start treatment with conventional braces, but you're an adult! Is is too late to get the healthy, beautiful teeth you've always wanted? Why not consider Invisalign clear aligners from your dentists at Omni Dental in San Diego, CA? Clear, comfortable and convenient, Invisalign appliances work for a variety of the smile problems adults and teens experience. Here's the reasons why they may work for you.

What is Invisalign?

The Invisalign system uses a series of clear acrylic aligners to move crooked, gapped and crowded teeth into healthier, more attractive positions. Dr. Daniel Stevens, Dr. Christina Tsang and Dr. Wahid Tabibzadeh recommend them to teenagers and adults, too, who desire better oral function and smile aesthetics without the hassle metal or ceramic braces can pose.

Aligners come in pairs, numbering 18 to 30 in all, and they are custom-made to fit tightly over the top and bottom teeth. Fully removable and easily cleaned with a mild toothpaste or plain soap and water, the appliances are practically invisible.

In addition, Invisalign aligners work exceptionally well. They treat problems such as:

  • Gaps
  • Crowding
  • Uneven tooth length
  • Tooth rotation and tooth tipping
  • Overbite
  • Underbite
  • Cross bite
  • Open bite

While some alignment issues are too complex for Invisalign, the vast majority of smile problems can be corrected with these innovative aligners. Your dentist in San Diego will examine your teeth and gums and take X-rays to determine if Invisalign could work for you.

What are the other benefits?

In general, Invisalign aligners fit the active lifestyles of teens and adults. Besides their discreet appearance, the aligners pose no dietary restrictions or complicated oral hygiene routines because there are no brackets, wires or rubber bands to break or to clean around. Plus, wearers of Invisalign have fewer oral discomforts.

Also, Invisalign takes far less time to accomplish treatment goals. Smiles are straightened in an average of one year, less than the two to two-and-a-half years needed for conventional braces. Patients like the shorter, and less frequent, visits to their dentist in San Diego. Every month or so, they simply stop in to Omni Dental for progress checks and to receive their newest aligner pairs. Frankly, as long as the patients wear their appliances for the prescribed 20 to 22 hours per day (taking them out for meals and brushing/flossing), treatment progress stays on track.

What could be better than a new smile?

The friendly staff at Omni Dental in San Diego, CA can answer that! Why not contact the office to arrange your Invisalign consultation with one of our expert dentists? Consider Invisalign. Your oral health and appearance definitely will benefit. Phone (619) 224-5000 today.

Overhauling your smile with orthodontic treatment can change both the way you look and the way you feel. Many patients avoid invisalignorthodontic care due to traditional braces’ metal wires and brackets being more obvious than they are comfortable with. Luckily, alternative, more subtle options like Invisalign can provide you with a straighter smile and corrected bite without the need for metal in your mouth. Learn more about Invisalign with Omni Dental in San Diego, CA.

The Benefits of Invisalign
Patients who use Invisalign eliminate the need for metal wires and brackets. Invisalign’s clear aligner trays blend into your natural look and make straightening your smile a breeze. Simply pop in a new aligner tray every two weeks until treatment ends. Remove the trays to eat and perform your oral care routine. Invisalign will not require you to avoid certain foods or add any extra steps other than rinsing the trays with water into your daily routine.

Invisalign and Your Smile
Invisalign treats the same things as traditional braces, including:

  • overbite
  • underbite
  • cross bite
  • open bite
  • overcrowding
  • under crowding

A good candidate for Invisalign should be over the age of 12 and someone who wishes to improve the appearance and functionality of their smile. Since the trays are removable, it is also necessary to have a strong commitment to wearing the trays the recommended 22 hours a day. In addition to actually wearing the trays, patients should commit to a healthy oral care routine involving brushing at least twice a day and flossing at least once, alongside seeing their orthodontist for regular check-ups throughout treatment.

Invisalign Orthodontic Treatment in San Diego, CA
Invisalign begins with a consultation and a 3D model of your mouth. Your dentist will send the model to Invisalign’s laboratory where the technicians will create a video showing you the path on which your teeth will move throughout treatment. The laboratory only creates your aligner trays after you and your orthodontist approve the video. When the completed trays return to your dentist’s office, your treatment will begin. The trays come in a series worn one after another until the end of treatment.
